What are the 2 main classifications of sunnah ? |
The sunnah is classified in 2 ways: 1. The kind of the sunnah when we look at the channels through which the ahkam are established. 2. The kind of sunnah with respect to the channels through which it has been transmitted to us. |

It is to be noted that not all the sayings of the holy prophet pbuh are a source of law. To become a source of law, the purpose of the saying should be the laying down of the law or its elaboration. |

1. Al kharaj bi al daman: entitlement to revenue depends upon corresponding liability for loss. 2. Innama al amal bi al niyat: the nature of acts depends upon the underlying intentions 3. Al amd qwad: intentional murder leads to retaliation. 4. La darar wa-la dirar: no injury is to be caused and none is to be borne. |

What is sunnah taqririyah? |
Sunnah taqririyah is defined as the commission of words or deeds by his companions and the maintenance of his silence without disapproving the deed or the words. His silence in such cases is called taqrir or his tacit approval. This is considered as sunnah that becomes a source 9f permissibility of an act or statement. |

What is al sunnah al fi'liyah? |
They are the acts of the holy prophet pbuh which have legal content like his prayers , fasts and hajj. |
