dark romanticism is a literary subgenre that emerrged from the Transcendental philosphical movement. It has dark emotional aspect.The Dark Romantics saw not only the goodness, but the dark and evil side to the spiritual truth. Dark romantics are much less confident about the notion of perfction. In their eyes, the natural world is dark, decaying and mysterious. When it does reveal truth to man, its revelations are evil and helish

The AmericanRenaissance in literature is actually a very specific part of the largerliterary period, the American Romantic period. The Romantic period, whichlasted roughly from 1800-1860, experienced an explosion of uniquely Americanliterature near the end of the time period. Surge of American literarymasterpieces from 1840-1860 is known as the AmericanRenaissance. During the Renaissance, there were two subgenres: the Dark Romantics and the Transcendentalists. It Began as a protest against the general state of culture and society at the time. Dark Romantics did not like puritans and their beliefs. The term dark romanticism comes from both the pessimistic nature of the subgenre's literature and the influence it derives from the earlier romantic literary movement.

He strongly disliked transcendentalism. much of his poetry aand prose features his characteristic interest in exploring the psychology of man, including the perverse and self-destructive nature of the conscious and subconscious mind. Herman Melville was best known during his lifetime for his travel books. His themes of madness, mystery and the triumphs of evil over good in moby-dick and bartebly the scrivener made them notable examples of dark romanticism.
