Revelation
|
The abilitiy to come to know God through God's works. Higher knowledge. Scriptures are revelation.

|
Literature that came upon as a result felt by the loss of Jewish Society. They thought God would destroy everything, and save them.

|
The authority the church has to teach, and the traditions of its' teachings.

Call Story
|
Stories in the bible where God calls prophets on a mission. When God calls, He does not leave them alone.

Moses' Call Story
|
God appears as a burning bush. He is the God of Isaac and Jacob. Moses is commanded to free the Israelites. Moses argues he is slow of speech. God says he will be with Moses' mouth. His sign is to worship God on the mountain.

Isaiah's Call Story
|
God appears in the temple. He is the Lord of Hosts. Isaiah's mission is to speak to the poeple. Isaiah says his lips are unclean, and God touches them with coal and says they are now pure. His sign is the discussion of Lord & people.

Jeremiah's Call Story
|
Heard the word of the Lord. "Before you were in the womb I knew you." His mission is to be a prophet. Jeremiah says he is only a boy. God touches Jeremiah's mouth and puts His words in Jeremiah's mouth. His sign is to destroy then build.

Ezekiel's Call Story
|
The chariot of YHWH, and the edible scroll. God says "O Mortal, stand up on your feet." His mission is to speak to the people of Israel. Ezekiel was resentfully silent. God says not to be afraid. The people will not listen.

|
We believe in One God. Trinity is One God, One Lord, One Faith. One baptism, world unity.

Holy
|
The church has a special purpose. The Church is Christ's, therefore it is holy. We derive from Christ's holiness.

Catholic
|
Catholic in this sense means unitary. It is not limited by culture/race. Open to all.

Apostolic
|
We follow the teachings of the Apostles. There is always continuity from the time of the Apostles to now.

Covenant
|
An agreement between person(s) and God. It is a bond of love, and a promise to love God back.

|
Good News. Proclaims the life, death & resurrection of Jesus from apostle's perspective.

Eschatology
|
Pertaining to the end of time, and the coming of the kingdom of heaven. We can live what God plans for us at the end of the world now.

Saul was a pharisee. He thought to serve God he must lay down the law and seperate the "true" Israelites from the false ones. Thought Jesus was delusional and a pagan. Heard Jesus and realized that He was right, and God was doing everything He promised. Apostle to the gentiles.

Jerusalem as a starting point. Disciples went on missions. Jewish Rabbis didn't like them. Celebrated Jesus' memory. Some were corrupt, and had strict eating laws, and similar harsh traditions.

After Jerusalem had been destroyed. Many ethical questions about old tradition came up. Christianity was outlawed in Rome until Constantine. Constantine connected church & state.
