Character
A person or animal in the story. There is usually one main character. Think about Cinderella, she is the main character of her story. There are other characters, but all the things in the story happen to Cinderella.
Setting
The time and the place of the story. You can ask yourself,"Where is all this happening? When does it happen?"
Problem
The problem in a story is something that happens to the character, or something that needs fixing. Cinderella's problem is that she has a wicked step-mother who treats her badly.
Resolution
How does the problem get solved? The resolution is what happens to solve the problem. The resolution of Cinderella's problem is Cinderella marries the prince and doesn't have to be with her evil step-mother anymore.
Events
These are the things that happen in the story. These go in order to show the reader the beginning, middle and end of the story.
