Secondary storage devices
Storage devices are needed to hold information so it can be accessed at a later date.​For example, hard-drive, USB stick, SD-card, CD-ROM​
Magnetic storage devices
Magnetic storage devices (like a hard-drive) are cheap and hold lots of information.​They are often used to hold the computer's Operating System but are easily damaged because they contain moving parts.​
Solid state storage devices
Solid state storage devices (like a USB stick) are expensive so have smaller capacity than magnetic storage devices.​They are small and durable so are often used to transport data around.​
Optical storage devices
Optical storage devices store data as a series of dots that can be read by a laser (like a CD).​They are cheap to make and very durable but slow to read.
