2 SECONDARY SYP developes 2-12 weeks after chancre. charac. by RASH-LIKE LESIONS, FEVER, MALAISE, HAIR LOSS.

3 LATENT SYPH - asymptomatic stage

4. TERTIARY SY. - incurable and terminal stage of s. no cure.

cardiovascular system damage: blood vessle walls deterioate

central nervous system: deafness, loss of coordination, blindness, paralysis, possible isanity that can be permanent.

GONORRHEA
Neisseria gonorrhoeae

MOST COMMON STD in USA

incubation period: 2 days to one week.

in males: infects Urethra, urethrites (burning while peeing), pus formation.

in females: Cervix but may effect urethra and anal canal. Vagina is resistant to infection. 80% asymptomatic. Pelvic inflammatory disease.

Untreated gonorrhea may become systemic (bactermia) joints (arthritis), heart (endocarditis), meninges (meningitis), kidneys (nephritis), skin (skin lesions) small fluid filled lesions all over body.

Immunity: v. poor, person can be infected over and over causing organisms can mutate easily.

Ophthalmia neonatorum - fetus eye infection.
