Blocking

Breaking a population into groups based on a trait (variability within groups is less than that between groups) and taking a random sample of each group, then adding back together.

Blind

Small groups (naturally occurring) are selected from a population, all of them should be representative of the greater population, pick a few at random, sample those.

Split population into several homogeneous groups, perform a simple random survey on each, put the resulting groups back together.
