What is the sample space?

It is the set of all the basic outcomes
What is an event?
Any subset of a basic outcome from the sample space
What is an intersection of events?
The set of all basic outcomes that belong to both A and B
What is mutually exclusive?
When the events A and B have no common basic outcomes; their intersection is said to be the empty set indicating that the intersection cannot occur.
What is a union?
The set of all basic outcomes that belong to at least one of these two events. The union occurs if and only if either A or B or both occur

What is collectively exhaustive?
If a union occurs the events are said to be collectively exhaustive.
