Standard Deviation (S or small sigma)

A measure of the dispersion of a set of data from its mean. The more spread apart the data,the higher the deviation. Standard deviation is calculated as the square root of variance.

Mean

Average - the sum of all the data points divided by the number of data points.

Null hypothesis

Is a statement that a researcher wants to reject because it proposes that there will be no change in behavior,no difference between the groups being measured. A negative twist on a research hypothesis.
