Sleep is a natural, but unique state of consciousness. It follows a biological (circadian meaning around day) rhythm that depends on light. Sleep is changes in brain activity patterns.

How many stages of sleep are there?
There are 4 stages of sleep.
What is stage 1 of sleep?
Stage 1 of sleep is when you are so relaxed that you only sort of know what is going on around you. You know about everything going on around you but don't know where everything is coming from.
What level(s) of sleep are called deep sleep?
Levels 3 and 4 are called deep sleep.
What are dreams?
Dreams are the brain trying to connect different ideas to make sense of something? Like connecting constellations.

The hypothalamus releases melatonin to induce sleep.

Microsleep is 2 - 3 second lapses into sleep.
What is REM rebound?
Rem rebound is increased time in REM after sleep loss. During a REM rebound people have nightmares.

Rapid Eye Movement. Alcohol reduces time in REM sleep.
What is dreaming?
Everyone dreams. Most dreams occur in REM.
What is Lucid Dreaming?
Lucid Dreaming is when you are aware of dreaming, most people are often in control of lucid dreams.
