take in morning to reduce chance of insomnia
should start to make you feel better after 1-3 weeks and you will experience the full effect after 6-8 weeks
What is it and what is it used for?
Your Dr. has prescribed…. It belongs to the class of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRI’s for short. They are used to treat a few conditions, do you know why your doctor has prescribed there for you today?
In depression and other associated conditions, there is an imbalance of some of the chemicals in the brain. This medicine works to correct this imbalance.
How do I take it?
You are to take…1 tablet a day. It is best to take this medication in the morning as it is likely to make you alert and may cause insomnia if taken late in the day. Having said that it can make some people feel more drowsy, if you experience this, it is better if you take it at night (paroxitine and fluvoxamine at night). The doctor will decide how long you will continue on this medication. This medication will not work properly unless it is taken every day, so it is not something that you take when you feed sad.
Side effects?
dizziness: so take care when standing up quickly especially when getting out of bed,
drowsiness, therefore you should not drive or operate machinery if you are affected.
It may also effect your sexual performance.
It may make you feel worse initially. If you feel this way, talk to someone about how your feeling and remind yourself that it may be the medication making you feel that way and it will get better.
It should start to make you feel better after 1-3 weeks and you will experience the full effect after 6-8 weeks.
