Maps lie because they are distorted. Things like direction and distance can be distorted because of human bias (perspective) and 2D to 3D

What's an example of how a map can be distorted and bias?

The Mercator Projection distorted the size of continents (etc.) especially around the poles and a person living in Australia might draw a different map than someone living in the U.S.

What does a physical map show?

Shows physical features such as mountains and deserts

What does a political map show?

Borders and cities

What is a topographic map?

A map that uses a reference line and contour lines to represent elevation

What is a concept map?

Linking a concept (usually enclosed in a circle or box) to other related concepts with lines to organize ideas.

What does high latitude mean?

COLD (polar regions)

What does low latitude mean?

HOT (tropical regions)

Where are most of the world's deserts and rainforests located?

The rainforests are located along the equator and the deserts along the tropic of cancer and tropic of capricorn lines because these are the hottest and most tropical places with low latitudes

Precipitation
