What does speed tell us? |
It tells us how fast something is moving. |
State the formula to calculate the mean speed |
Mean speed= Distance travelled/ Time taken |
Remember the triangle. |
What are the units of measurement for speed? State at least two. |
•meters per second •kilometers per hour •miles per hour |
What are balanced forces? |
Balanced forces are forces which are the same size but work in opposite directions, meaning that the traveling object is in equilibrium. |
What effect do unbalanced forces have on an object? |
They make the object change speed, direction, or shape. |
If forces are balanced: |
•A stationary object remains stationary •A moving object continues to move at the same speed |
If forces are unbalanced: |
•a stationary object will start to move •a moving object will change its speed, shape, or direction |
