What does speed tell us?

It tells us how fast something is moving.

State the formula to calculate the mean speed

Mean speed= Distance travelled/ Time taken

Remember the triangle.

What are the units of measurement for speed? State at least two.

•meters per second

•kilometers per hour

•miles per hour

What are balanced forces?

Balanced forces are forces which are the same size but work in opposite directions, meaning that the traveling object is in equilibrium.

What effect do unbalanced forces have on an object?

They make the object change speed, direction, or shape.

If forces are balanced:

•A stationary object remains stationary

•A moving object continues to move at the same speed

If forces are unbalanced:

•a stationary object will start to move

•a moving object will change its speed, shape, or direction
