My fellow classmates, I am standing in front of you all to help you ponder a few questions: Do you want to be successful? Do you want to live a fulfilled and happy life?

1

Hopefully all of you will say “Of course I want to be prosperous,” but many of you don’t realize what core value will enable you to achieve this. It’s no secret, the only way that one can achieve greatestness is through responsibility.

2

Responsibility, according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, is defined as: the opportunity or ability to act independently and make decisions without authorization. This means that having responsibility is to be mature and make your own positive choices.

3

Responsibility is not waiting for people to tell you what to do, it’s not unfulling your duties, it’s not being carefree about your life, but it is taking initiative and accountability for your actions. Responsibility is the most important core value, because it dictates everything about ones life.

4

For example, keeping your grades up is a responsibility that can you lead you into a good college, or when you take responsibility and practice for your sports team, this can lead you to winning the game, or even practicing an instrument which can land you to music scholarship.

5

This is the reason why responsibility is crucial, it allows us to complete our obligations and strive for our ambitions. I too have had my personal experiences with responsibility; my last summer vacations comes to mind when I am thinking about responsibility.

6

Last Summer, I was put in charge by my parents to plan out the next family vacation. At first, I didn't realize how much responsibility planning a trip was going to become, but after long hours of dedication towards finding the best location and events, I planned a very memorable moment.

7

My parents pressed a very big responsibility on my shoulders and I worked, and worked and worked to prove that I can handle such a task. This experience made me grow as an individual, by making me work independently and taking leadership at that time.

8

By real life experiences can we only tell how much of an impact taking responsibility is, it helps us achieve goals by motivating and forcing us to make positive choices. There is no doubt that responsibility is the most essential core value because it makes us mature, defines who we are growing up and makes us aware of our actions.

9

Without responsibility we are not able to fully develop all the skills we need for life.

To wrap up, responsibility is an essential part of our lives it is a core value. Without this important attribute, you not be able to fully take advantage of the life you were given.

10

Responsibility is what builds us up and prepares us for that real world, only by experiencing responsibility can we all truly mature.
