Age 7 boys go to barracks and learn discipline, duty, strength, and military skill. Girls had athletic training and learned to defend themselves.

Athens had to governing bodies, the council of 400 (took care of day to day problems) and Assembly (voted on policies proposed by the council). Had a direct democracy.

Boys of wealthy families got education. Girls did not attend school.
