La verdad es que no tengo mucho tiempo para ver televisión. Cuando trabajas mañana y tarde, cuando llegas a casa tienes tantas cosas que hacer que no puedes apenas ver televisión; pero bueno, tengo un gran defecto y lo reconozco, cuando estoy enfrente de la televisión quiero ver todo, resultado: al final, no veo nada. Pero bueno, normalmente, empiezo por la cadena número uno, normalmente no me interesa, cambio a la dos, sigo la tres, sigo la cuatro, y después de media hora de no encontrar nada que me gusta, sino simplemente anuncios televisivos que me incitan a comprar algún producto al día siguiente, pues ya, lo dejo por imposible y apago la televisión. Máximo una media de treinta minutos al día; además, no creo que sea sano ver más de treinta minutos al día, estando al día de las noticias y más o menos de lo que pasa en tu país con treinta minutos es necesario. Mejor, dedicar el tiempo a hacer actividades m‡s gratas y más divertidas como pasear, relacionarte o tomarte una copa en una terraza con tus amigos. |
The truth is that I don't have much time to watch television. When you work in the morning and evening, when you arrive home you have so many things to do that you can hardly see television. But, well, I have a big defect and I recognize it, when I am in front of the television I want to see everything. The result: in the end I don't see anything. But well, normally, I begin with network number one, normally it doesn't interest me, I change to two, I move on to three, I continue on to four, and after half an hour of not finding anything that I like, but simply television adds that entice me to buy some products the following day, so anyhow, I give up and I turn off the television. A maximum average of thirty minutes a day; besides, I don't think it is healthy to watch more than thirty minutes a day, being up to date with the news and more or less with what happens in your country, with thirty minutes it is enough. También hay un poco de drama, en cuanto es un poco de todo y no sé yo lo vi por primera vez cuando yo tenía 10 años. Cada vez que la pasan por televisión o tengo la oportunidad de alquilarla siempre la he visto y no me cansaré de verla nunca. |
Well, my favorite movie has always been "Gone with the Wind." I love the acting of Vivian Leigh in this movie. I think it is super romantic and I love this type of movie that has a little drama and has a little of everything. I saw it for the first time when I was 10 years old. Every time they show it on television or if I have the chance to rent it I always watch it and I will never get tired of seeing it. |

En este momento estoy escuchando música que es una mezcla de sonidos viejos con sonidos nuevos. Principalmente música que son tributos a cantantes. Compramos un disco que es un tributo a José Alfredo Jiménez. Entonces tanto de estos grupos modernos como Mohenia, como La Ley, como El Gran Silencio, etc. También como ah, también compramos uno de José José, un tributo a José José. Y es interesante porque uno escucha música que uno creció oyendo, la música que oían los papás de uno y que uno cuando estaba pequeñito lo forzaban a escuchar porque era lo que estaba en la radio, pero con un sonido diferente. Entonces es como mezclar lo que uno creció oyendo, y que uno de una u otra manera en el fondo del corazón le gusta porque lo acostumbraron a eso, con la música que uno descubre cuando ya crece. Y se mezclan estas dos, estas dos etapas de la vida de uno y se vuelve como una mezcla muy interesante, a nivel personal y también a nivel musical porque la mezcla es muy muy interesante. |
Right now I’m listening to music that is a mix of old sounds and new sounds. Primarily music that are tributes to singers. We bought a disc that is a tribute to Jose Alfredo Jimenez. So as much from these modern groups like Mohenia, like La Ley, like El Gran Silencia, etc. Also like ah, also we bought one by Jose Jose, a tribute to Jose Jose. And it is interesting because you listen to music that you listened to growing up, the music that your parents listened to that when you were little they forced you to listen to because it was on the radio, but with a different sound. So it is like mixing what you grew up listening to, and that in some way or another at the bottom of your heart you like because your used to it, with the music that you discover when you grow up. And these two are mixed together, these two stages of your life and it turns into an interesting mix, at a personal level and also at a musical level the music is very very interesting. |

¿Pintor favorito? Bueno, me gusta mucho los cubistas, me gusta mucho Picasso, me encanta la forma como llevan a cabo la perspectiva de la pintura. Modernos: me gusta mucho Botero, es un pintor colombiano. Trabaja mucho también el volumen y los colores fuertes entonces lo hace ver todo muy vivo, muy brillante, con mucha vida. ¿Cantantes? bueno solo decir que me fascina la música colombiana, me encanta la salsa entonces, pues, cantantes bueno de orquestas de salsa me gusta mucho. Pero también me gusta mucho escuchar otro tipo de música como pop o rock. Me gusta mucho cantantes españoles, me gusta mucho Mecano, me gusta mucho Miguel Bosé. Y me fascina una banda argentina que se llama Soda Stereo. Es muy buen rock, es excelente rock. ¿Actores, actores? Bueno, un director más que todo. Los directores me gustan más. Me gusta mucho Oliver Stone—me encantan las películas de él. Y me gusta también mucho Pedro Almodóvar que es un muy buen director. En cine latinoamericano me gusta Sergio Cabrera. Ah bueno, y Almenébar que también es español. Me gusta mucho la forma como ellos llevan el cine, más que actores me gusta la forma cómo los directores llevan las películas. Eso me parece más interesante. |

Mi restaurante favorito es Trudy’s porque, primero porque queda cerca de mi casa. Segundo, porque tienen comida Tex-Mex y me gustan las quesadillas, son muy auténticas, son como mexicanas. Tercero porque puedes ir a la sección del bar y tomarte una cerveza con unos amigos y luego pasarte al restaurante y cenar y porque es relativamente barato, no es muy caro para el servicio que dan. |

Muy bien, hace unos cuatro meses fuimos a México a visitar a la familia de mi esposo. Pasamos una semana en la ciudad de México y otra semana en la playa, en Acapulco. Nunca había conocido Acapulco así que fue bastante divertido. |

Bueno, las últimas vacaciones en las que estuve fue en Enero de este año, del dos mil cuatro. Fui a Colombia, obviamente a pasar la navidad con mis papás y decidimos ir a la zona donde se cultivaba el café, el café de Colombia. Entonces yo, bueno, yo fui la elegida para manejar todo el tiempo el carro, lo cual no me molestó porque me gusta mucho manejar. Y fuimos a esta región que se llama El Quindío y conocimos como la gente, las fincas—que son unas casas muy lindas con todos los plantíos de café, sitios muy lindos—y cómo era el proceso por el cual se producía el café que me pareció muy interesante porque no lo sabía… hasta el final, hasta cuando ya queda empacado para ser exportado. Pues era lleno de naturaleza, la gente muy querida, la comida deliciosa, estuvimos en un parque de un museo con la última tecnología que había—que existe creo yo en producción de café y bueno toda la historia de, no sé, desde principio de siglo veinte, cómo fue evolucionando la producción de café y cómo fue mejorando los procesos de producción y recolección de café. Entonces fue una experiencia muy bonita pues porque yo no sabía cómo se hacían las cosas, ni mis papás. Y pasé con mis papás, entonces también fue muy rico. Y bueno, fue muy muy divertido, muy tranquilo, eso sí. |

El clima en el norte de México en general es muy caluroso en verano. En invierno es muy frío. Se dice entonces que el clima es extremoso. En la parte central de México, precisamente debido a su altitud, el clima es fresco en verano. La ciudad de México alcanza temperaturas máximas de 30 grados centígrados, a lo mucho. Y en invierno es un invierno muy tranquilo, a lo mucho llega 2, 3 grados sobre cero, pero eso es solo en las madrugadas. Se puede decir que la ciudad de México tiene un clima muy muy agradable. En el sudeste y sur de México, el clima es caluroso todo el año. Obviamente en invierno es menos caluroso. Pero no existen las estaciones, es decir no hay primavera, verano, otoño e invierno. Es solo época de lluvias y época de secas. |
The climate in the north of Mexico is generally very hot in the summer. In the winter it is cold. You can say that it is a climate of extremes. In the central part of Mexico, mainly because of its altitude, the climate is cool in the summer. In Mexico City the temperatures get up in the 30's centigrade, if that much. And in the winter it is a very calm winter, at the most getting to 2 or 3 degrees above zero, but that is only in the early morning. You can say that Mexico City has a very enjoyable climate. In the southeast and in the south of Mexico the climate is hot all year round. Obviously in the winter it is less hot. But there aren't different seasons, that is to say there is no spring, summer, fall, and winter. There is only wet and dry seasons. |

Bueno lo que yo les puedo decir es que siempre que se habla del Ecuador se piensa o se dice que es un país así como la selva. Por ejemplo, recuerdo que un amigo que viajó a algún país europeo en la escuela había regresado y nos dijo que le preguntaron: “¿Y dónde es el Ecuador?”. Y ellos pensaron: “¿Qué, en el África, en alguna parte en Asia?”. No tenían idea que bueno Ecuador está en Sudamérica, a la parte noroeste del continente y que no solo tiene… no solo es un clima tropical como muchas personas piensan sino que tiene muchas variedades. |

Aquí en Oaxaca, México el uso de la medicina es interesante. A parte de lo que es la medicina occidental hay mucha gente que usa remedios indígenas. Muchos Oaxaqueños no van al doctor cuando se enferman, sino van con un curandero o usan hierbas medicinales. La mayoría es una mezcla de los dos. |
Here in Oaxaca, Mexico the use of medicine is interesting. Apart from what is called "western medicine" many people use indigenous cures. Many Oaxacans don't go to the doctor when they get sick, instead they go to a witch doctor or they use herbal remedies. The majority is a mixture of the two. |

Creo que falta aún todavía bastante avance. Aunque lo hay, no, no estoy diciendo que no lo haya, pero falta avance en lo que respeta a medicina social. Siento que a veces el médico se limita exclusivamente a llenar una serie de datos ya escritos que van a formar parte de estadísticas y no hay una relación directa con el paciente. Entonces, falta mucho todavía en ese sentido. En cuestión de presupuesto, de planeación, de una medicina más efectiva y más real dirigida al paciente. |
I believe that there is still a lot to be done. Even though there is some improvement, I am not saying that there isn't any, but there lacks advances in what is social medicine. I feel that sometimes doctors are limited to just filling out data that then become part of statistics that don't relate directly to the patient. So there is still a lot to do in this area as far as budgeting, planning, and more effective medicine that is directed towards the patients. |

Bueno, aquí en Perú tenemos el Instituto Peruano de Seguridad Social. Bueno, el servicio que presta es, como se entiende, para toda la gente, la gente de clase media y la clase baja sobretodo. Creo que está mejorando aunque hay ciertos, ciertos problemas. Nunca faltan que eso no llegue a las personas que más lo necesita. Bueno los hospitales son menos..., deberían ser mejorados en cuanto a la infraestructura, los servicios, pero pienso que puede mejorar. |
Well here in Peru we have the Peruvian Institute of Social Security. Well, the service that they provide is, as one understands it, is for everybody, those of middle class and especially those of the lower class. I believe that it is getting better even though there are certain problems. You never get to the point where you reach all of the people who need it. And the hospitals are less..., they should be improved with regards to their infrastructure, the services, but I think this can improve. |

Bueno en general en este país, en Estados Unidos, me parece que tienen un problema muy grande, sobretodo en lo que es la salud pública. Esto ya que todo se está privatizando y todo lo que es las compañías de seguro médico. Se ha vuelto todo un programa para ver cuánta plata le pueden sacar a la gente y realmente no está sirviendo a la comunidad como se debe servir, sobre todo en términos de salud preventiva, medicina de prevención. Es algo que no existe en la filosofía de medicina de este país. |

El sistema de seguridad social en México no es muy eficiente. Es eficiente en términos de que consigue fondos de los trabajadores cada mes, una parte del sueldo se retiene para la seguridad social y otra parte igual la da el patrono. Sin embargo, a la hora de requerir los serivicios es lenta, es confiable una vez que has entrado en el sistema los doctores son buenos, buenas máquinas, etcétera, pero es muy lenta. Para-tienes que hacer una cita y hablar con una persona y luego hacer cola y esperar y etcétera. Entonces, muy poco eficiente. |

I am happy to not have to repeat all of the classes in the natural sciences: physics, chemistry, and biology. I spent years taking classes in these subjects and, actually, I worked on being an actor. I was completely clueless but I acted like I knew everything and it worked, I didn't fail any of the classes, but I didn't learn either. |
