Subjunctive w/conjunctions that express: Restriction- Siempre y cuando/ con tal (de) que- provided that
A menos que- unless Sin que- without Possibility: en caso de que- if, in the event that Purpose: Para que- in order that, so that Time: antes (de) que- before **Must have two subjects! If only 1 subject, an infinitive follows the preposition. ** menos que and siempre y cuando always followed by subjunctive even if there is no change of subject |

Imperfect Subjunctive
Use when expressing previously learned forms of subjunctive, but in reference to the past. When the verb in the independent clause (first part) is in the past tense, and the dependent clause refers to a past action or state, use the imperfect subjunctive -Take the third person plural (ellos) of the preterit, drop the -ron ending, and add: ra, ras, ra, ramos, ran (pagar) pagara, pagaras, pagara, pagáramos, pagaran |
