A plague caused by rats that ran through the wells infecting the water. The plague was blamed on the Jews. The rats were infected by fleas that were infected. The plague killed half of the population and the plague spread through all of Europe. Anti judaism came to a fault

Almohads

They're extremist muslims. They were disgusted at how secular some muslims were to they went on a killing rampage. Came from N. Africa. They were defeated by Christians at Las Navas de Talosa.

Spanish Inquisition

They went around questioning whether or not you were a true christian. If you weren't you would die, suffer, be burned alive, brutally "taken care of". You convert or you leave/ die.

Synagogues in Toledo

Decorated to look like Muslim art because of cross-over in religion. Muslim artisans who worked to make synagogues which have arabic and hebrew writing.

Crusades

The purpose was to purify Jerusalem of all non-religion holy war. For example in 1150 -1250 anyone occupying Jerusalem that aren't Christians should/must be killed

He named himself caliph. He is the high point of the Golden Age. He employed Jews and Christians. He had a Jewish doctor who was a scholar and translator. He built a magnificent palace.

Aspects of a Golden Age; How it affected Spain

There were scientific and engineering innovations. Agricultural revolution, poetry flourishing. Ancient texts were being translated. Major Productivity, wealth, garden palaces. Diversity within jobs. Sometimes there was tension. It was a rocky golden age (not just good good, it was more like good, bad, bad, great, great, good, relatively good, horrible, etc.).
