Belladonna. throat constricted, irritated, raw. swollen glands. pains: severe, stitching. worse on the right side, for swallowing liquids. causes: getting cold. neck is tender to touch. talking is difficult. constant desire to swallow despite the extreme pain it brings. pains may radiate into the right ear on swallowing. will drink sips with head bent forward. |

Hepar Sulphuricum. pains: spreading up to ear, raw, splinter like. tonsils: swollen. better for hot drinks, for warm compresses. worse for breathing in cold air, for coughing, for swallowing, for turning head, for cold drinks, in winter. causes: getting cold, exposure to wind. throat feels as if there is a splinter or a fish bone stuck. pains sometimes when yawning. neck is sensitive to touch or pressure and feels better if wrapped up warmly. |

Pains spreading up to ears. splinter like. with chocking sensation. lump sensation in throat. better for swallowing solids. worse for heat, on the left side, for pressure, for touch, for swallowing liquids or saliva very painful. light pressure or touch aggravates. hard pressure (like swallowing solids) helps. constant desire to swallow since the patient feels as if there is a lump in her throat. swallowing helps this feeling only temporarily may feel as if there's breadcrumbs in the throat which is relieved by hawking. patient feels constricted around the neck and can not bear to be touched there. |
