Rhea |
The rhea is a flightless bird from south america that is well suited to life on the open grasslands They stand up to 5 feet tall and weigh 40-50 pounds They do not fly but they use their wings as "rudders" to balance themselves while running at great speeds |

It only has 7 vertebrates just like ours |

The white swan found out on our safari are called Mute Swans because they are significantly less vocal then other species of swans. The young are brown/tan color which turns to a bright white color with a bright orange beak in adulthood. Even so, they are particularly aggressive when it comes to defending their family |

Blackbuck are originally from India, Nepal, and Pakistan They travel in herds of 5-50 in either mixed herds or bachelor herds They are also one of the few antelope where males & females have different coloration. |

Aoudad are actually referenced to the Barbary sheep but are more closely related to goats Their light brown coat helps them blend well with their environment & is not thick or wolly due to the heat. Females give birth to 1-2 young after 5.5 months of gestation. |

Kudu are the 2nd largest antelope behind only the Eland. Both males & females have a white striped pattern extending from their backs to their stomach The males can wait as long as a year before starting to grow their horns and those horns will not start that beautiful twist until 2 years of age |

American Black Bear |
Black bears are considered more docile & they are the smallest of the North American Bears. They typically weigh 200-500 pounds with the largest weight recorded at 880 pounds Their coats do not have to be black but can range in brown, black, yellow, or Grey They are very playful & are oftentimes seen wrestling which can look quite aggressive. |

The brownbears are very different from the black bears. They are not as thick in body shape , have much longer muzzles, and shoulder humps. And are generally more aggressive Like the black bears they are opportunistic omnivores but generally have a higher percentage of meat in their diet The bears learned over time that when they see a warden the more often they wave their paws, the more often they will be rewarded. They are still extremely playful & juvinelle they will often be seen playing tag |

A full grown Red Kangaroo can stand 6 feet tall but have a body that is 10 feet long making them the largest of the Kangaroo family. When fighting over a mate, male kangaroos will "box" and use their fore limbs to punch & scrape other kangaroos. Infant kangaroos are called "joeys" & are bornpremature the size of a Lima bean |

Emus are another member of the ratie group which includes ostriches & rheas. They can reach almost 7 feet tall sprint up to 30 miles an hour & take strides that are 9 feet apart They can jump up to 7 feet high |

These birds live their whole lives on or around water but cannot dive They are a highly nomadic species found all over Australia Both males & females will incubate their nest of eggs |

These antelopes are the largest of the Asian Antelopes and is the most common wild animal found in northern India & Eastern Pakistan The dissaperance of tigers has caused a huge population growth of the nilgai The name comes from Hindu & Perisan words & means blue cow and they are often referred to as the bluebuck |

Yak is a species of cattle that live in northern China, Russia, and Mongolia. They have a thick coat of hair that protects them from the elements & extreme cold |

Bengal Tigers live in southern Asia and are critically endangered with only an estimate of 2,000 left alive in the wild. Bengal Tigers are the only species of tiger to have color variations; there are four different color variations. There is black on orange black and white golden tabby tigers light orange color with butterscotch brown stripes The rarest of all color variations is the snow white tiger which is white on white |

The Siberian Tigers is the largest of all the cats alive in the world today They can be 13-14 feet long & weigh over 600 pounds They have excellent vision during both night & day requiring only about 1/6 of the light that we would need to see objects clearly. Their sense ofhwarimg is even better developed. They are able to independently turn each ear almost clompletly around like a radar dish so they can pick up every little sound from their enviroment |

Canada Geese |
They are the only species of geese naturally found in this area. The sharp population rise in the last 50-100 years is caused by the disappearance of natural preadators like the wolf & lynx |

This is a species of African Goose that is part of the safari but can be found throughout the different sections of the park. Males & females look identical but males tend to be slightly larger Their nests are built on grounds or in tree holes they will also use abandoned nests from other birds |

There are a couple of Chinese geese that have interegated themselves with the local flock of canada geese There are a couple of offspirng living in the area of the park and they have patch coloration Parts of the hybrid are brown like Canada Geese with other white areas of feathers that come from the chinese species |

Turkey Vultures |
The turkey Vulture is a scavenger and feeds almost exclusively on carrion It finds its meals using its keen vision and sense of smell This vulture is often seen standing in a spread wing stance The stance is believed to serve multiple functions; drying the wings, warning the body, and backing off bacteria. |
