Paleolithic Period

first use of the stone tools. Existed by hunting and scavenging animals, as well as gathering plants. They are referred to as hunter gatherers, since their primary subsistence derived from foraging and hunting edible plants and animals.

Neolothic period

sometimes called the New Stone Age. The origin of this period in humanity is defined by the use of farming. The rise in farming created the necessity for permanent settlements, such as villages or tribes. Introduced the first use of pottery and dependence on domesticated animals

transition from collecting food to producing food. A crescent-shaped area that was part of a massive swath of rich farmland that stretched from the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean Sea.

an era of resurgence. Egyptians constructed massive bombs for the burial of their pharaohs in an area called Valley of the Kings

Egyptians developed a writing system that used pictures and symbols to present concepts and sounds.

Rosetta Stone

an Egyptian artifact helped provide translations of the hieroglyphics for modern understanding of the symbols.
