Relative Dating

Relative dating is based on the artifacts relation to other artifacts that have already been dated.



You could ask if the artifact was connected or found near to another artifact whose date is known.

Absolute Dating

Absolute dating is more precise and accurate.



It can be achieved by measuring the carbon level, how much radiation it contains, or counting the growth rings in trees

Primary sources

Primary sources were created in the time the historians investigated.



Eg. Writing, artifacts, oral histories.

Secondary sources

Secondary sources are items created after the timeline being studied.



Eg. Filmmakers, artists, politicians.
