Jim Crow Laws
state and local laws in the United States enacted between 1876 and 1965. Mandated segragation in all public facilities and still kept it separate but equal.
hoovers plan
passed in 1931, beleif in the individual (not government responsibility), underestimated crisis. RFC (reconstruction finance corporation) gives loans to big businesses. (long term plan in an emergency doesn't work)
federalsim
division of powers between state, local, and national government. Ex.: only federal government can print money and make treaties.
bill of rights
section that gauruntees basic rights. It's even stronger than the bill of rights in the constitution.
constitutions
document of a government that explains its purpose, describes its organization, and states its powers. U.S. government, state, and local has certain powers that are stated in the U.S. constitution and louisiana constitution.
congressional reconstruction act of 1867
congress placed south under strict military control. 5 military districts set up each commaded by u.s. army general. This control would be removed only when a state ratified the 14th amendment.
