Age
|
Biologically, age is the number of years since a person was born. Sociologically, it also involves cultural definitions about what is required from and appropriate for people of different ages. These definitions vary from one society to another.

The denial of rights, opportunities, and services to someone exclusively because of that person's age.

A category of people who were born in the same year or in a small number of consecutive years.

Transitional Status
|
A status that is not permanent, but changes over time. Age is a transitional status because people periodically move from one age category into another.
