Source, maintenance, and recoverability codes indicate the availability and procurement of the item, the activity and level authorized to use, repair, and condemn the item.
Specifically, these codes indicate whether the part is to be procured on demand and carried in the supply system, manufactured, obtained from salvage, or assembled with component parts. They also indicate if the part is not to be replaced due to the practicality of installation of the next higher assembly or impracticality of replacement.
