Prelinguistic Milieu Teaching Methods
Milieu teaching methods are based on principles of behaviorism, including rewarding a child for successfully communicating a
target message.

1. environment is arranged or an activity organized in a way that encourages child to make requests
2. follow the child's attentional lead
3. Time delay
4. rewards are natural consequences
5. Behavior based
6. contingent motor and vocal stimulation
7. adult may simply look expectant,
anticipating the child’s asking for the item. If the child makes the request (i.e. is able to produce the target skill), then he or she is praised by the adult and receives the item along with social praise

learning process designed to promote a deeper learning. Scaffolding is the support given during the learning process which is tailored to the needs of the student with the intention of helping the student achieve his/her learning goals

Statewide program that provides many types of services to infants and toddlers w/disabilities up to age 3 and to thier families.

NOT Eligible
1. 25% or 1.5 s.d. below norm in receptive and exp lang.
2. 2 s.d. below norm in exp only (late talker)

IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan)
1. Legal Doc.
