UVA Rays

94% of the UV rays that reach the earth. Associated with skin wrinkling, leathering, and sagging. Long term breaks down collagen and elasyin fibers and causes the skin to lose elasticity and support. Fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, and sagging skin.

UBA rays

Responsible for sun burns

SPF

Sun protecting factor , helps protect the skin from UV rays. Rating that measures the level of protection

PA rating

Rates the UVA protection provided by a product . PA+ to PA+++ Being the highest

Physical sunscreen

1 of 2 categories. Contains minerals that reflect or scatter the suns UVA and UBA rays. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are the active ingredients. No waiting time nessesary before exposer to sun. May be applied over moisturizer.

Chemical sunscreen

Contains synthetic chemicals that absorb UV rays. Apply 30 min prior to exposure to give it time to absorb in skin. Should be applies before using a hydrator

Sun rays

Strongest btwn 10am and 4pm. Suns rays reflected off of snow, water, sand, and grass.

Tanning

Beds are dangerous . individuals who exposed their skin to beds b4 35 has a 75% increased risk for melanoma. High pressured lamps that omit doses of ultraviolet radiation that can be 12xs more than the sun

Dihydroxacetone (DHA)

Active ingredient in self tanners, which reacts with the chemistry of the skin to create a change in color. The color fades as the skin naturally sheds dead skin cells . DHA has also been know n to aggravate acne skin concerns. Most tanners do not offer protection from the sun. Suggest exfoliator to remove dead skin cells for even application.

Peptides

Repairs cells, plumps, firms and smooths, provides hydration, decrease red, puffines,, and dark circles.

Retinol

Vitamin A. Increases cell turnover , retexturizes skin, and removes dead skin cells

Tea Tree Oil

Eliminates bacteria, reduces inflammation and detoxifies pores
