The Shakespeare acting troupe was originally called the "Lord Chamberlain's Men". Once King James took to the thrown they changed their name to "The King's Men" this was also when the Tempest was performed.

• Some people say Shakes. must not have had that scene in before the review and then changed it after the review.
• Kiefer believes the scene was in the whole time before and after review and that Forman was just not the best of theater reviewers.
Who was Robert Greene?
He created blank verse and also wrote "Pandosto" which is what "Winter's Tale" is based off of.
What are the differences between Greene's "Pandosto" and "Winter's Tale"?
In Pandosto: The King is motivated in his idea that his wife has had an affair.
WT: The king is in no way motivated, he just comes up with it out of no where.

Pand: The Queen really dies, the King marries his daughter unknowingly, finds out and then kills himself.
WT: Hermione is actually alive and everyone lives happily ever after.

Shakes. also changed all of the names to more Greek names except Mopsa, is the only name he didn't change.

Shakes. added 3 motifs: The vision of Antigonis, The shipwreck and the attack of the bear.
Who is Fulvia?
Marc Antony's first wife. She is politically driven and dies within the first scene. It was her third marriage, it gives Antony the chance to reconcile with Caesar.
Who is Mumallius?
Hermione and Leontes son. He dies right after Apollo has cleared Hermione's name and Leontes still refuses not to believe anyone. He tells the Winter Tale to Hermione, foreshadowing his own death.

A character in the Tempest. The counsellor who helped Miranda and Properous escape to the Island. He represents the fascination with the new world in the Eng. culture.

A form of entertainment that has been pop. for a while during King James's reign. Not really plays but they have dramatic feel to them. They are Quasi dramatic. They included Instrumental music, song, dance, elaborate costumes. Based off of Greek and Roman mythology.
