What is collateral sprouting |
Nerve growth factor released from the distal portion of respected nerve can stimulate neural regeneration into this region from uninjured adjacent nerves. It is a short lived protective mechanism that will benefit from further desensitisation and sensory re-education |

What is klumpke palsy or determine klumpke type |
It is an isolated lower plexus lesion which is uncommon. It involves the C7,C8, and T1 nerve roots.
The shoulder, elbow and wrist extensors are intact. Loss of finger flexion and extension and intrinsic muscle function of the hand is observed. Part of the triceps is also paralysed. The sensory loss is severe and usually involves LF, RF and medial aspect of the FA. |
