LMV
Long Market Value: the current market value of the stock position the investor purchased.
DR
Debit Register: the amount of money borrowed by the customer.
EQ
Equity: the customers net worth in the margin account; it represents the portion of the securities the customer fully owns.
EE
Excess Equity: The amount of equity in an account that is above the Reg T amount.
SMA
Special Memorandum Account: An additional line of credit which is created when the market value increases. If the market value never increases SMA is never created.
Retention Requirement
When an account is restricted and a client sells securities half the proceeds must go towards the debit.
