Antacid: adverse effect according to types
Mg: diarrhea
Al/Ca: constipation
Na-bicarb: belching
Antacid: contraindication, warnings
Ca: decreases reabsorption of drugs (azole, antibiotic, digoxin, arythromycin)

Azoles include: ketoazole, itraconazole,

Antibiotics: ciprofloxacin, quinolones

Na-bicarb: bad for renal, prego, nursing, (fluid overflow due to Na+)

Mg/Al: bad for renal failure

-reduces gas (decreases surface tension of gas)

-dark stool, black tongue, tinnitus, OD, neurotoxic (tremor, ataxia, seizure, rining in the ear)

contrindicated:
AIDs, Prego, children, (12<), nursing, ASA allergic, taking antiplatelet meds, Gout
H2RA, onset, duration, max, types of drug & dose
Onset: 30-45 mintues
Duration: 6-10 hrs
Max: 2 weeks

Types of drugs:
Cimetidine (Tagamate): 200mg tab
Ranitidine (Zantac): 75-100mg
Nizatidine (Axid): 75mg
Famotidine (Pepcid) : 10-20 mg

Directions: take 1-2 tablets per day
H2RA adverse effects
diarrhea, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness
confusion in eldery (rare.)
Gynecomastia (cimetidine only)
H2RA contraindication:
Cemitidine: binds to CYP450 & inhibits warfarin, ketoneazole, amiodarone anitoconvulsant, theophenol, tryclin antidepressant

Ratinine binds to CYP450, but little effect
PPI: onset, duration, max, type,
Onset: 2-3 hours
duration: 1-4 days
Max: 2 weeks regimen for every 4 months

Only used for frequent heartburn.

Type:
Omeprazole: 20mg
Omeprazole (20mg)/ NaBicarb(1100mg)
Lansoprazole: 15mg
PPI adverse effect/ contraindication
headache, dissinezz, drowsiness, constipation, diarrhea, community accquired pneumonia for prolonged used.
