Distinguish between meteoroids, meteors, and meteorites.
Meteoroids are particles orbiting the sun. Meteors are meteoroids that enter the earth's atmosphre and glow. Meteorites are meteoroids that survive the fall through the atmosphere and impact the earth.
Why is it easier to see meteors after midnight?
After midnight the observer is on the leading side of the earth as it goes through its orbit; so the earth is approaching the meteoroids moving away from it.
