Demonstrate how to find directions during the day and at night without using a compass.
Sailors use to use the stars to guide them. You can use stars to find directions at night. The North Pole is located directly under the North Star. You can find the North Star can be found by first finding the Big Dipper. The 2 stars farthest from the dippers handle are the pointer stars. Those stars point to the North Star.
Constellations can also help find directions. Scorpio fills the Southern sky in the summer. Orien rises in the southeast on winter evenings.
During the daytime you can use the sun. The sun rises in the East and sets in the West. The moon also comes up in the east and goes down in the west. When the moon is bright the shadow stick method can work at night.

You can also use the watch method and the equal-length shadow methods to find direction.
