The largest part of the brain. It controls most physical, and many mental activities. It also controls the cerebellum.
cerebrum
The part of the brain that coordinates muscle movement and balance.
cerebellum
Controls automatic functions like heartbeat, breathing, coughing, digesting food and circulating blood.
medulla
Nerve cell that carries nerve impulses (messages) from the senses to the brain and then back to the muscles.
neuron
A thick bundle of nerves that runs from the brain down channels in the backbone. It carries impulses to and from all parts of the body.
spinal cord
These cells do not regenerate like other cells. Once destroyed they cannot grow again. Things like drug and alcohol abuse can destroy these forever.
