What is a Wave?
a transfer of energy
What is sound?
needs vibrations, matter (transmitter, reciever, travels about 340 m/s in room temprature air, faster in solids travels in compressional waves (back and forth)
What is Amplitude?
Loudness, shown by height of wave (taller the wave= the louder)
What is frequency?
pitch, shown by closeness or crests (closer= higher pitch)
What is Doppler Effect?
Change in pitch due to the movement of the object making the sound.
What is electromagnetic spectrum?
differant frquencies of energy
What is light?
only part of the EMS we can see (doesnt need matter to travel) travels in transverse waves (up and down)
What is transparent?
Lets light through, can see through clearly.
What is translucent?
lets some light through, cannot see through clearly.
What is opaque?
no light passes through, cannot see through.
What is reflection?
light bounces off plane, concave or convex mirror.
What is refraction?
bending of light as it passes through material like a convex or concave lens.
