mass
the amount of matter in an object. The unit of measure is gram.
triple beam balance
a device used for finding the mass of an object.
rider
a weight on the beam of a triple beam balance that counters the weight set on the pan.
pan
the surface on the triple beam balance where you place the object to determine its mass.
density
the ratio of mass to volume.
gram
unit of measure for mass, g is the symbol used.
water displacement
A way of measuring volume by using a graduated cylinder. You find the difference between the level of the liquid (water) before and the level of the liquid after you drop an object in.
pointer
a part on the triple beam balance that when pointing to the other side means that the riders are ready to be read.
