What is the cell theory?
All living things are made up of cells.
What does the cell wall do?
Surrounds the cell and protects and supports the cell.
Is the cell wall in plant or organism cells?
Mostly in plants but in some organisms too.
What is the cell membrane?
Forms boundary that seperates cell, it lets in oxygen and materials and is selectively permeable.
What type of cell is the cell membrane located in?
All cells.
Nucleus, what does it do?
Acts as the brain of the cell and directs cell activity.
What type of cells have a nucleus?
All cells.
Nuclear membrane, what does it do?
Protects the nucleus, let's materials in and out through openings.
Nuclear membrane is in which type of cells?
All type of cells.
Chromatin, what do they do?
Contain genetic information and instructs the cell.
What is the cytoplasm?
Fluid in between membrane and nucleus, is gel-like and floating, has many important organelles in it.
What is the mitochondria?
Powerhouses of the cell, produce energy.
Endoplasmic reticulum, what does it do?
A maze of passageways that carry protein and other materials.
Ribosomes do what?
Produce protein.
Golgi bodies do what?
They are the cell's mailroom, package and distribute materials to other parts of the cell.
Chloroplasts do what?
They absorb energy from sunlight and use it to produce food.
Chloroplasts are found in what type of cells?
Plant cells only.
Vacuoles do what?
Storage area, stores materials and food needed by the cell.
Lysosomes do what?
They break down waste with chemicals.
Lysosomes are found in what type of cells?
Mostly animal cells, uncommon in plant cells.
Name the cell cycle stages in order
Interphase, Mitosis, cytokinesis.
Name the stages of mitosis in order
Prophase Metaphase Anaphase Telephase
