Longshore drift

the zigzag movement of sand along a beach. Waves push sand on the beach and gravity pulls it back. Depending on which way the longshore current is going is the way the zigzag motion goes.

A build up of sand that does not break the surface of the water. It can become a spit if it is connected to the mainland.
