What are genes?
Sequences of DNA that codes for a protein, and determines trait.
What is Heredity?
The passing of genes to offspring.
What is a phenotype?
The visible trait.
What is a genotype?
Genetic makeup of an organism.
What does Homozygous mean?
Two of the same alleles.
What does Heterozygous mean?
Two different alleles.
What are chromosomes?
They are located in the nucleus, containing genetic information.
What does incomplete dominance mean?
This is when one allele isn't completely dominate over another.
What does Co-dominance mean?
Both alleles contribute to genes.
What are the 4 stages a cell goes through?
G1 is growth
S is DNA replication
G2 is preparation for mitosis
M is mitosis
What is a universal blood donor?
It is someone with the blood type "O". This blood can be received by anyone int he world no matter what blood type.
What is a clone?
A clone is an exact reproduction of an organism and are created through A-sexual reproduction, or scientific engineering.
Sum up all of the stages of Mitosis.
In Mitosis, one cell clones itself's DNA then splits into two, creating two identical cells.
Sum up all of the stages of Meiosis.
Unlike Mitosis, Meiosis does not clone one cell, it instead creates a cell with different genetic information, but only uses one cell. Long process short, the cells split and a new one is formed even with different genetic information.
