If you have the voltage and resistance how do you find the current? |
Voltage/resistance |
How do you calculate the percent efficiency of a 100J light bulb that produces 35J of light energy |
Decide what the object produces/35J by the amount of Jules it is/100J. Then multiply by 100 to get the percentage. |
What is the difference between series circuits and parallel circuits? |
Series circuits: - the current stays the same no matter how many bulbs/where it is. - to find the total voltage you must add the voltage of each bulb up. Parallel circuits: - to find the total current you must add the current of each bulb/section - the voltage of each bulb stays the same no matter how many rows/where it is. |

How does a 4-cell battery look? |
What does an open and closed switch look like? |
What does a fuse and resistor look like? |
What does a bulb/lamp look like? |
You must ______ everything when drawing a circuit |
Label |
A voltmeter must be connected _______ with a load |
Parallel |
What is resistance measured in? |
Ohms - Ω |
What's the difference between insulators and conductors? |
A conductor allows electrons to flow but an insulator does not |
Describe one technological device that uses static electricity |
An electrostatic speaker vibrates aire using a large thin conductive diaphragm panel suspended between two conductive panels. These conductive panels are charged with electrical current from a wall outlet, creating an electrical field with a positive end and a negative end. |
Describe a second technological device that uses static electricity. |
Inside the printer a laser beam scans back and forth across a drum building a pattern of static electricity. The static electricity attracts a powder like ink called toner. A fused bonds the toner to the paper by compressing the toner into the paper using rollers. Finally the toner is melted into the paper. |

What are the social, environmental and economic impacts of coal? |
Social: - high demand for construction labor - has a negative effect on farming industries Environmental: - largest contributor to global warming - releases airborne toxins such as mercury, lead, sulfur and various other metals s economic: - irresponsible mining can cause coal fireseconomic: - 26 billion dollars in salary- cheapest source of energy- high cost of transport - 26 billion dollars in salary - cheapest source of energy- high cost of transport - high cost of transport |
