Angle of incidence is equal to angle of Reflection

Light reflects on smooth surfaces = clear reflection.

Light reflects on a rough surface = blurry and unclear reflection

Light reflects on objects which bounce into our eyes

Normal line in between the angle of incidence and reflection.

Required for graphs:

ARROWS

Light reflected by Rays.

Luminous - Glows in the dark. Emits own light.

Emit - Gives a light.

Non- Luminious opposite wont glow doesnt emit light

Reflect - mirros the light. Object that bounces off a light.

Lights bends when it passes through another medium.

Some light will be reflected - Reflection

Some light will be transmitted: Transmission

Some light will be absorbed : Absorption

White lights is made up from multiple colors but is viewed as a white color.

Rainbows are formed when sunlight hits water coming from the rain. The light slows down and it bends forming different colors.

Red travels fastest, violet travels the slowest.

Red, Green, Blue

Colors become sharper when they are put in front of the same colored filter. Colors become duller/ absorbed when they are put in front of a different color filter. Colors stay the same when they are put in front of white filters.

Secondary Colors of Light are cyan, magenta and yellow

Red + Blue = Magenta

Red + Green = Yellow

Blue + Green = Cyan

Light travels much faster than sound.

Frequency of a wave = the number of waves that pass a certain point each second.

Units of frequency are hertz (Hz). It is common for kilohertz, megahertz and gigahertz.

Larger Wavelength = Lower Frequency

Smaller Wavelength = Higher Frequency

Low Pitch - Large Wavelength - Lower Frequency

High Pitch - Small Wavelength - Higher Frequency

Amplitude = Volume

Frequency = Pitch

3 Bones that carry the vibrations from the ear drum to the cochlea =

Hammer

Anvil

Stirrup

Auditory Nerve carries impulses from the cochlea to the brain.

Pinna - Outer Ear

Mercury Venus Earth Mars Jupiter Saturn Uranus Neptune

Hemisphere facing towards the sun is summer. vice versa

The 4 planets closest to the Sun are rocky planets the others are made of gas.

More gravitational pull from the Sun on the nearer planets.

There is gravitational attraction between all objects. This is called gravity.

Greater Mass = Greater Attractive Forces

Closer Objects = Greater Attractive Forces

Mass is a measure of how much stuff is in an object.

Weight is a force acting on that stuff. (N)

Weight = mass times gravitational force.

Current model of the solar system - Heliocentric System

Acid rain is formed when gases in the air pollute the air which end up polluting rain droplets resulting in Acid Rain. The droplets become polluted when the air oxides with Sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.

Granite - No effect

Sandstone - Dissolved

Iron Filings - Oxides

Copper Filings - No Effects

Controlling Pests by Herbicides, Pesticides and Biological Control.

Pesticides can be bad due to bio-accumulation.

DDT is a pesticide for insects and can kill them. Useful for farmers to grow crops and stop the spread of disease. Killed eagles

Metals - Conduct electricity heat

Heat up quickly

High melting point except mercury

Strong

Flexible

Some are found underground

Some are reactive

Test for Hydrogen -

Put lit splint and see if squeaky pop is present.

Test for Co2-

LimeWater Test

Rusting requires oxygen and water,

Metal + Water = Hydrogen + Metal Hydroxide

Metal Carbonate + Acid = Salt + Carbon Dioxide + Water

Metal + Acid = Salt + Hydrogen

Metal Oxide + Acid = Salt + Water

Hydrochloric acid = Chlorides

Sulphuric Acid = Sulphates

Nitric Acid = Nitrates

Copper is lower than hydrogen in reactivity so it cannot react.

Iron + Water + Oxygen = Hydrated Iron Oxide
