What are the three parts of the cell theory
1. all living things are made of cells
2. all cells are the basic units of structure and function in life 3. all cells come from other cells |
what are the organelles cell and what do they do
1. Smooth ER- detoxifies the cell
2. Cytoplasm- fluid around the parts of the cell 3. Ribosome- holds the "recipe" to proteins 4. Golgi Apparatus- "post office" 5. Mitochondria- converts food energy into chemical energy 6. Rough ER- makes protein 7. Lysosome- break down food, dead organelles, and cellular debris 8. Nucleus- holds the DNA (blueprint for the organism) 9. Chloroplasts- changes light into glucose 10. Vacuoles- any sac in the cell used for storage 11. Cell wall- the outermost layer of the cell 12. Cell membrane- the lining around the cell that lets items in and out 13. Cytoskeleton- keeps the shape of the cell |
what are the organelles are only in the plant cell and what do they do
1. Chloroplast- plants have this to make energy out of water and sunlight in a process called photosynthesis.
2. Vacuoles- Not only in plants but considerably larger than when in animals 3. Cell wall- only on plants in addition to the cell membrane 4. Mitochondria- only in animals. |
What is homeostasis
the ability of the body to regulate internal conditions to maintain their suitability for life.
What is diffusion
the movement of particles from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration in a liquid or gaseous form
what is osmosis
diffusion of water.
what is active transport
The movement of particles through the cell membrane using the cell's energy.
