Continental Glacier

A glacier/ice sheet that covers all or most of a continent.

A glacier that forms between mountain glaciers.

Fresh Water

Water that contains a low amount of dissolved salts. Sometimes found in lakes, rivers, ponds, and wells. 3% of fresh water in all he water on earth.

Salinity

The measured amount of salts in a liquid. How salty something is, or how much salt is in it.

Water cycle

A process when almost all water on Earth moves between oceans, land, and atmosphere.



Evaporation- When water turns to vapour and goes into the clouds.


Condensation- When the vapour turns back into a liquid, in the clouds.


Precipitation- When the liquid falls back to earth, as rain, snow, sleet, hail, etc.


Ground water- After the water has fallen to the ground, it is seeped down 100m under the Earths surface.


Run-off - Rain water that flows off a land surface.


Continental Divide

A continuous ridge of mountain summits dividing the continent into two main drainage areas. On one side, the waters flow west to the Pacific. On the other side, waters flow northeast to Hudson Bay or southeast to the Gulf of Mexico.
