Mechanical Energy

Energy associated with motion. Sound is a form of mechanical energy

Thermal Energy

The internal movement of an objects particles or atoms that causes a change in temperature. Also called heat energy.

Chemical Energy

Potential energy stored in the chemical bonds that hold chemical compounds together. Chemical energy can be used to bond atoms together or break them apart.

Electrical Energy

The movement of electrons. Anything that uses electricity.

Electromagnetic Energy

Energy that travels in waves. Also called light energy and radiant energy.

Nuclear Energy

Potential Energy stored in the nucleus of an atom. Energy is released when the nucleus is split (fission) or when nuclei are joined together (fusion)
