What is an electromagnetic wave? What does it consist of? How fast does it move?
Electromagnetic spectrum is a transverse wave that transfers electrical and magnetic energy. It consists of vibrating electric and magnetic fields that move throught space at the speed of light. They do not require a medium.
What is electromagnetic radiation?
The energy that is transfered through space by electromagnetic waves.
How fast do electromagnetic waves travel per second? What is it called? How much faster is the speed of light compared to the speed of sound?
About 300,000 km per second. This is called the speed of light. About 1,000,000 faster than sound waves.
What kind of model can electromagnet waves be explained by? Which other type of model can better explain it?
a wave model. a particle model.
What is polarized light?
Polarized light is light that only vibrates in one direction that passes through a polarized filter. No light passes through 2 polarized filters that are placed at right angles to each other.
What is the photoelectric effect?
The ejection of elctrons from a substance where light is shined on it.
What is a photon?
A tiny particle or packet of light energy.
What is unpolarized light?
Light waves that vibrate in all directions.
How do electromagnetic waves travel?
electric and magnetic fields travel perpendicular to each other.By a change of one field, it causes the other one to change.
What is an electric field? What i a magnetic field?
A magnetic field exerts magnetic forces that can act on certain matierials. Produce when a charged particle moves. Every charged paricle has an electric field surrounding it. The electric field produces electric forces that can push or pull on other charged particles.
