Why are cells so small?
If cells were too big, the outer shell wouldn't be big enough to take in enough nutrients or pump out enough waste.
Do a prokartyote have a nucleus or membrain bound organelles.
No.
Are prokaryotes single-celled or multicelled? If malticelled, how much.
Single celled.
What are two types of prokaryotes?
Bacteria and Archaea.
What are Eukaryotes?
An organizm made up of cells that have a nucleus enclosed by a membrane; Example: Plants, animals, and fungi.
What does a eukaryotes nucleus hold?
DNA
give examples of both multi cellular and uni cellular eukaruotic cells?
Multicellular-Humans, plants, green algae , and mushrooms.
Unicellular-amoebas and yeast.
Who is Robert Hooke?
The first person to see cells. Saw the cells in dead slices of cork.
Who is Anton Van Leeuwenhoek?
The first person to observe living cells in a drop pond water.
Who are Matthias Schlieiden and Theodor Schwann?
A botanist and a zoologist who descovered cells are in all plants and animals.
Who is Randoph Virchow?
A german docter who hypothesised that cells came from other cells that already existed.
What is a cell called?
The building blocks of life.
What are the three parts of the cell theory?
1) All organizms are made up of one or more cells.
2) Cells are the basic units of structure and function in all organizms.
3) All cells come from other cells that already exist.
What is a Prokaryotic cell?
single celled organizms that have no nucleus or membrain bound organelles.
