Liquid volume

The amount of space that a liquid takes up. It is measured in millimeters in either a graduated cylinder or a beaker.

Graduated Cylinder

A container that is narrow, cylindrical shape that is marked with a graded scale and used to measure the volume of liquids.

Beaker

A container that is wider than a graduated cylinder this is marked with a graded scale and used to measure the volume of liquids.

Physical Property

The characteristic of matter that you can observe or measure without changing the matter into a new substance.

Mass

The amount of matter in a solid, liquid or gas. Measured in grams with a triple beam balance or pan balance.

Triple Beam Balance

A scale that uses three bars to measure the mass of an object.

Pan Balance

A scale with two pans that is used to find the mass of a solid, liquid or gas.

Metric Ruler

A ruler that shows 30 centimeters (cm). Each centimeter is labeled. In between each centimeter is 10 millimeters, which are not labeled.

Length

The measurement of the longest side of an object.

Meter Stick

A tool that shows 100 centimeters (cm). Each centimeter is light blue with the number. In between each centimeter is 10 millimeters, which are not labeled.
