CELL WALL
The definite boundary or wall that is part of the outer structure of certain cells as a plant cell.
PHOTOSYNTHESIS
The process when green planlts and some other organisms use sunlight to get foods and carbon dioxide and water. In plants it usually involves the green pigment chlorophyll.
CHLOROPLASTS
component of plant cell walls: the main constituent of the cell walls of plants and algae.
VACUOLES
a small cavity or space in tissue
CHLOROPHYLL
a green pigment responsible for the absorption of light to provide energy for photosynthesis
CUTICLE
The outer layer of living tissue. The protective, waxy or hard layer covering the epidermis of a plant.
VASCULAR TISSUE
A sap-conducting plant tissue: plant tissue that is specialized for conducting sap.
FERTIZATION
application of fertilizer: the act or process of applying fertilizer to soil or plants
ZYGOTE
a fertilized ovum (egg)
SPOROPHYTE
The stage in the life cycle of a plant in which the plant produces spores for reproduction.
GAMETOPHYTE
The stage and life cycle of a plant in which the plant reproduces gametes, or sex cells.
GAMETES
A mature male or female cell unite with an opposite sex cell and form a zygote
TISSUE
A group of cells that perform a specific function.
