Shadows
Created when light is blocked by an object.
Reflection
Occurs when a light ray bounces off a surface.
Two types: Regular and Diffuse.
Regular Reflection
Occurs on smooth surfaces eg. mirror.
Forms a clear image
Diffuse
Occurs on rough surfaces
No clear image is formed
Law of reflection
Angle of incoming ray = Angle of reflected ray
Lateral Inversion
The left to right flip that occur to the reflected image in a mirror.
Concave Mirror
A mirror which is curved in wards like a cave.
Focus
The point where reflected rays from a concave mirror meet.
Refraction
The bending of light when passing from one substance to another.
HLA
High refractive index to Low refractive index = away from the normal
LHT
Low refractive index to High refractive index = towards the normal
Three primary colour
Red, Green and Blue
Wave length
The distance between the peak of two waves
Electromagnetic Spectrum
Spectrum based on the wave length of radiation.
Spectrum of colour
Infa-Red...... Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet...... Ultra Violet
The colours make up white light
Speed of Sound
330m/s at 0oC the speed changes when sound is travelling through different substances.
Speed of Light
3 million m/s
Luminous
When something produces its own light
Non-Luminous
Something doesn't produce it's own light
Disperse
When light is spilt by a prism into a spectrum.
