Annotated Bibliography

A bibliography and annotated/notes with a summary or evaluations of each source used to research a topic.

Imagery

Descriptive or figurative language used to create word pictures. It is created by details that appeal to one or more of the five senses.

Motifs

A recurring element, image, or idea, that has symbolic significances in a work of literature. A novel with the titles Tangerine might make use of this image many times and in different ways.

Setting

Is the time and place in which a narrative occurs. Details of a setting often create atmosphere, the feeling created by a literary work or passage. Atmosphere contributes to the mood, the overall emotional quality of a work, which is created by the author's language and tone and the subject.

Flashback

A flashback is a sudden and vivid memory of an event in the past. Its is also an interruption in the sequence of events in the plot of a story to relate events that occurred in the past.

Foreshadowing

Is the use of clues to hint at events that will occur later in the plot.

Hyperbole

Its an exaggeration thats is used for emphasis EX:The bus ride took forever.

Idiom

Words or phrases that cannot be taken literally, EX: He kicked the bucket, the test was a piece of cake, break a leg, it's raining cats and dogs.
